Several food drinks available in the market in Port Harcourt city were analyzed for their contents of such heavy metals as
cadmium , cobalt, chromium, copper, iron, Nickel, lead and Zinc. The food drinks were grouped into fruit juice, Malt drinks, carbonated soft drinks and wines (Non-alcoholic). The samples were processed for analysis by wet oxidation method, and analysis carried out by the use of an air-acetylene flame

The result of the findings shows that the levels of the various metal were generally low and within statutory safe limit except for cobalt and cadmium in carbonated drinks. This research is useful in quality assurance studies by food regulatory bodies in Nigeria.
