Operation of Radiation Portal Monitors of Special Nuclear Materials At Nuclear Sites in Terms Of Reliability

Abstract

Two often used operational algorithms of radiation portal monitors are reviewed taking into account specific conditions of physical protection systems at nuclear sites. Reliability parameters such as probability of no failure and false alarm rate of both types of radiation portal monitors are evaluated. As a result some offers on application of radiation portal monitors working in different modes are suggested.
