VARIOUS SOURCES FOR PRODUCTION OF BIODISEL
Moreover, biodiesel is produced domestically from a variety of seed oils including soybeans, rapeseed, and corn. Biodiesel can be used in diesel engines (cars, trucks, busses, construction equipment), in jet engines, and, in heating and electricity generating systems. Use of biodiesel reduces nitrogen oxide emissions compared to fuel oil (a form of diesel fuel). This report estimates the net health benefits of using biodiesel. Biodiesel is environmentally safer than petro-diesel. It is nontoxic, produces less skin irritation than soap and water, it degrades four times as fast as petro-diesel, has a flash point significantly higher than that of petro-diesel, thus making it safer to store and handle.
